NIV SHEINFELD + OREN LAOR
YOU HAPPY PUPPET
Documentation of a rehearsal of a dance production between convention and exaggeration. The choreographers a bit unsure, but determined, the actors perform what they are told: puppets let other puppets dance. It´s a metaphor on a society that has surrendered, having lost its orientation and values.
Niv Sheinfeld and Oren Laor are touring the world with their extensive repertoire for years. Their work THE THIRD DANCE just premiered in Tel Aviv and might be a next global success. In Dresden, YOU HAPPY PUPPET will be staged with subsequent discussion.

Dance Lecture Comedy
ROTEM TASHACH
IT´S ALL GOOD
The setting suggests an evening of stand-up comedy. But IT´S ALL GOOD primarily is a lecture, where Rotem Tashach comments on examples of political stage art, links these with actual political events and thus putting its relevance and effect up to negotiation. Tashach plays with a kind of blasphemous fatalism, characterized by Jewish humor. And he insists that possibly only the dance can save our world. Performance in English.

SHIRA EVIATAR
EVIATAR/SAID
Once they have been deconstructed, Yemeni folk dances and rituals exhibit a stunningly diverse vocabulary of movement. Rearranged they grow into a surprising and unique version of contemporary dance, being strangely foreign and likewise associative, full of dignity and touching seriousness. Shown in Leipzig and Chemnitz in a double feature with Shira Eviatar´s RISING.

SHIRA EVIATAR
RISING
Two female bodies adapt festive dances from Morocco and Yemen. With every movement and every emotion they reveal a deep cultural rooting which has literally been implanted into their bodies. Without even mentioning it, the choreography underlines the - in this case - sensual struggle of young women for respect and equal rights. In Leipzig with subsequent background talk.

ADI BOUTROUS
IT´S ALWAYS HERE
Trained bodies are a natural component of Israeli male identity. They are self-assurance as well as status symbol, a signal to the society, always ready to fight, at every place and every time. Following this cliche and likewise deconstructing it, this choreography displays male bodies of remarkable athleticism, with a dance-like elegance, being strong and fragile at the same time, considerate and kindly, in search of contact, balance and reconciliation.

RONI CHADASH
VICTIMS AND IMAGES
This duet is a kind of female counterdraft to IT´S ALWAYS HERE. It marvelously complements Adi Boutrous` work with only implied cliches that appear to be rather associative, like a kind of adjustment variable that is being constantly modified by two virtuoso dancers, playing with cultural images and their possible meaning. Thereby, the content is getting gradually overlapped by the choreographic form. Their figures become personalities, colleagues become accomplices. A celebration of grace, presence and pure dance.

Dance
URI SHAFIR
HABITAT
Two people moving in a confined space near the audience, observing and reacting upon each other. Male bodies acting between the poles of choreography and tangible presence, between competition and trust, between representation and being.
Uri Shafir´s work praises the magic of the moment in which art emerges, when the stage is becoming home, a place inhabited and shared by people.
